Road Trip Day 5

Updated with pictures. Enjoy!!

We woke up early and headed to Grand Canyon!!! We signed up for a Family Friendly, Ranger Guided nature hike to the rim. It was great! There were other kids, the ranger was very informative, and we learned a lot!
When we finally got to the rim, the kids were AMAZED. Jax pointed and asked, is that real?? Maryam said, Wow, it looks like a poster, is it a poster? They were both overwhelmed by the immensity and beauty of it. If you've never been, Grand Canyon is something you should definitely see. Words don't do it justice.
After that hour hike, we headed to one of the visitor centers and signed up the kids for a Junior Ranger program. They had a blast!! They're both Grand Canyon National Park Junior Rangers now. :)
After our day at Grand Canyon, Brett & I were too tired to head all the way home. So we stayed in Tempe, near the airport and decided to sleep in and head home in the morning. Great decision. :)

Road Trip Day 4

Thursday we kept on West through New Mexico & into AZ. We stopped in AZ at the Petrified Forest National Park. Jax LOVES rocks, so he had a blast. We bought some petrified wood at this cute little store that had dinosaurs out in front of it. It's like a Jax dream. Rocks & Dino's in one place? What? That might be his heaven.
We stopped in Flagstaff to watch a movie. The kids wanted to see Turbo and they had been so well behaved all week, we felt they deserved a reward. They liked the movie & popcorn a lot!
We spent the night in Williams, AZ at a Holiday Inn. They had an awesome indoor pool that the kids enjoyed for over an hour! They had to go to bed early because we were getting up early to go to the Grand Canyon in the morning.

Road Trip Day 3

So Jax had a fever first thing in the morning, but no more vomiting. Yay!! We had another long drive ahead of us. We left Little Rock and headed west. This time we were planning on lunching in Oklahoma City and sleeping in Amarillo, TX. Once we got to OKC, the kids were asleep! Go figure. So we ended up stopping further West at a neat little burger/ice cream place called Braums. It was YUMMY!
After our lunch we kept on going West. Brett saw a billboard advertisement for a place called Big Texan, Home of the Free 72 Ounce Steak. He got SUPER EXCITED!!! He decided that we were definitely having dinner there and he was going to try the 72 ounce steak challenge!
So, when we made it to TX, we checked into our hotel, changed our clothes, & headed to dinner! That place is AWESOME!! They had karaoke, a beer garden, gift shop, shooting range, & delicious food! The kids' meals came with cute cowboy hats even. Brett didn't do the challenge, but we got to see other dudes try & fail.
So day three ended super fun.

Road Trip Day 2

We woke up early enough and headed South to TN. Poor Jax ended up getting sick. :(( A vomiting 3 year old is the last thing you want to have on a 5 day road trip!! Sadly, he started about 2 hours in. We had a 8 hour drive that day. Yikes. By the time we made it to Memphis poor Jax was empty. So, we decided to change our root. We still went on to Little Rock, but changed our plans from heading to San Antonio after that, to just going West to Amarillo, TX.
So, we had to spend an hour and a half in Memphis, TN at a McDonald's trying to cancel & book hotel reservations. It was nuts!!!! But they had free WiFi! Ha!
By the time we made it to Little Rock, we had been in the car for about 10 hours. BRUTAL.
The kids wanted to swim, so we let them for a bit. After that we had dinner.  We had to start early again the next morning so we stocked up on meds at the nearest drug store and hit the hay.

Road Trip Day 1

I've been having all kinds of trouble with my blog lately. Consequently, I've been unable to publish posts. It SUCKS!
Quick catchup.
Brett got a job back in CA! Yay! The four of us packed up our SUV & headed West. Well, not exactly west.  We decided to go North to Kentucky to go to Dinosaur World, then further North to Louisville to go to the Slugger Factory & Museum!!
We had fun at both!!! There were over 100 dinosaurs at Dino World! Sadly, we couldn't take photos at the Slugger Factory, but we did get a few outside!
We spent Monday night of our road trip in Louisville.
